Abstract
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) have arrived to Chile and since January 1st, 2009, they are present in many companies. Even though under this system, companies have financial information standardized which facilitates the decision making process, also it allows to companies of a particular country to understand financial reports of companies in a different country, for instance, an European investor can read and clearly understand financial reports of a Chilean company.
Due to the global spread of these IFRS, every company faces a new challenge. This challenge is that all members of the company should learn new methods and ways to work since this new culture of international financial reporting brings changes in the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, increases confidence into the companies, improves communication and information, and also it brings capital market transparency which reduces investment risks.
